Review, Olay: Total Effects Cream Cleanser

As we grow, our body’s needs grow with us. As an adult you would need a higher caloric intake than you did when you were a child in order to keep your body nourished. Instead of using bubblegum flavored toothpaste, you now use the minty kind, with whitening! The same goes for your skin; your skin is changing and the products you use need to change with it. For the longest time, I have been using face washes that are marketed toward teenagers with acne and although I still watch SpongeBob, it just so happened to slip my mind that frankly, I’m no longer a teenager. I don’t have a teen’s skin and I shouldn’t be using products made for teens. By your early to mid-20s you should already be using products that prevent wrinkles and dry skin. While most people think they have oily skin, they actually have combination skin but use the wrong products which, in turn, makes their skin oily and irritated. It’s important to use the right products for your skin, everyone’s skin is different and once you acknowledge that, you’re on your way to healthier skin.

After having a talk with my dermatologist, I realized that for the past couple of years I have been using the wrong cleanser for my face. I was so wrapped up in treating acne that I didn’t realize that my new adult skin was irritated by all these acne-fighting ingredients. If you’re in your 20s but still fighting acne, you should be using a sensitive cream cleanser with one acne fighting ingredient in it (my ingredient of choice is salicylic acid because it seems to work best for me). This way, your skin is hydrated and unharmed by the creamy texture but you’re still protecting your sensitive skin from acne. I have tried about 4 different cream cleansers but Olay’s Total Effects Cream Cleanser with salicylic acid feels like it was made just for me. This is the first Olay product I’ve ever purchased. My mother has been using Olay since I can remember but I always just assumed that it was for older women and I just had to break it to myself that I’m not 17 anymore. This cleanser is so gentle yet it still works hard to get my face clean. It leaves my skin feeling ultra soft and supple and smelling divine. The only complaint I would have about the product is that it doesn’t get all of my eyeliner off, so I still have to use an eye makeup remover. However, in all honesty, I wear some heavy eyeliner on my lids so not many cleansers can get it off.

I definitely recommend Olay’s Total Effects Cream Cleanser to all the ladies out there who are ready to upgrade to skin care made for women. It’s easy to age gracefully just as long as you know how to treat your aging skin.
